Czech company BLATA and World Championship Motorsports become partners Brno , August 21, 2004 The newly formed partnership between BLATA, s.r.o. and World Championship Motorsports carries the promise of being greater than the sum of the parts. Both parties have so much more to offer than either reveal to the casual glance. BLATA is not yet one of the world's great motorcycle manufacturers and WCM is not currently winning Grand Prix. On the other hand WCM has won Grand Prix as Red Bull Yamaha and Blata is growing extremely quickly with solid plans for very significant motorcycle production. BLATA was only formed in 1989 and already has an annual production of 24,000 units per year. Well known in the Czech Republic as a great example of what the country has achieved since dispensing with communism BLATA currently produces very successful pocket bikes and scooters. Their riders compete successfully in the European minibike championships and in other contests around the world. Further ahead are full sized motorcycles and a production capacity that is scheduled to increase to 100,000 units annually by the end of 2009. The partnership between BLATA and WCM was first discussed only late in May but as soon as the two parties met the tremendous possibilities were so obvioust hat an agreement was quickly reached. BLATA company founder Pavel Blata and WCM's director of Racing Peter Clifford immediately found that they had the same view of what the venture could bring to both companies. "This is exactly the partnership that WCM has been looking for," said Clifford. "In a short time we have learnt a great deal about the BLATA company and have been astonished at drive and skills they have and the technology available. We have certain skills and experience from 12 years of Grand Prix racing and we are absolutely thrilled to have the chance to make use of that in this new project. We do not underestimate the task ahead but all the ingredients are there to create something very exciting." BLATA and WCM are already working together on the project and following the last race of this season the WCM race team will move into a brand new facility being built at the BLATA factory in Blansko, 25km north of Brno .
