WCM will shortly announce a new second rider to join Chris Burns in the WCM Grand Prix team for 2003. After the shock announcement by Ralf Waldmann that he could not adapt to the big four stroke Chris was left to run the four day Barcelona test without a team mate.

Waldmann had tried the Harris WCM MotoGP machine for the first time on a wet afternoon at Mallory Park in Britain. That was followed up the following day with a further shake down run at the Rockingham Track on the superspeedway’s infield circuit.

Following those two outings Waldmann was in no doubt about his future. "You’ve done a great job with the bike and it is a nice team of people but I can’t ride it," said the multi GP winner who has had such success in the 125 and 250 categories.

It was suggested that he try again at the Barcelona test but even after having the weekend to think it over the German ace was certain that he would not be able to adapt to the big four stroke.
